How to serve by age
6–8 months
- mashed strawberries;
- soft thin slices, or stirred into purees.
9–11 months
- small soft pieces of strawberry.
12–23 months
- soft strawberries on their own or in all kinds of dishes.
Choking risk
Large or firm pieces of strawberry can be hard for young children to chew safely.
To lower the risk:
- mash strawberries for younger babies;
- cut them into small soft pieces;
- remove any tough parts if needed.
Always stay with your child while they eat.
Allergies
Individual allergic reactions are possible.
